What to Expect when Getting a New Roof

May 26, 2017 | Blog, Roof Installation

Has the time come to get a new roof? There are plenty of warning signs you that you may have noticed, indicating that it’s time to invest in a new roof. Warning signs include shingle edges that are curled or shingle tabs that are cupped, bald spots where granules are missing, cracked shingles, or simply the age of your roof. If your roof is more than 20 years old, it may be time to have to replaced, even if it shows no major signs of damage. If it simply looks old and worn, now may be the ideal time to get your roof replaced before it starts to fail.

If you’re not sure whether your home’s roof should be replaced, we invite you to call Orange county’s roof experts – Guardian Roofs – at (714) 633-3619. We’ll be happy to schedule an evaluation of your roof as well as provide you with a consultation and free estimate for all recommended roof services. We’re always available to answer any questions you may have and make sure you’re 100% satisfied with your entire experience with Guardian Roofs.

Preparing for your roof replacement

So if we’ve determined that the time has come to replace your roof, there are plenty of things you should be aware of beforehand. Lots of people have never been around a major roof project, such as a roof replacement, so we’ve provided these pointers so you’ll know what to expect.

One major idea you should definitely be aware of is that there will be varying levels of noise while your roof is being replaced. If you or anyone in your family (including pets) is particularly sensitive to loud noises, we recommend spending some time away from home while your roof is being replaced.

Protecting your valuables

At Guardian Roofs, we respect your home, and we’ll do everything we can to make sure it stays undamaged during your roof replacement. If you have any unsecured items that could fall or slide off shelves and walls, we recommend removing them prior to the start of your roof replacement. That’s because there will naturally be plenty of vibrations generated by our roofers and machinery that could unwittingly cause damage to your valuables.

Likewise, we also recommend removing items that could be damaged by falling debris during your roof project. That includes patio and pool furniture, potted plants, gardening equipment, and grills.

Every day, our crew will complete a thorough clean-up to remove equipment and properly dispose of any debris. However, you should know that it’s possible for some nails and other small debris may possibly remain.

Be aware

During your roof replacement, you should think of your home as a construction site. Use common sense and keep pets and small children away from the work area.

Also, the materials our crew needs to complete your roof replacement will be arriving on large trucks that weigh an excess of 65,000 pounds. We normally have these trucks enter the homeowner’s driveway to properly deliver the materials.

We welcome your questions!

If you have any other questions about what to expect during your roof replacement, don’t hesitate to give us a call at (714) 633-3619. We want to make sure you’re totally comfortable. Your new roof from Guardian Roofs is going to be awesome!
